Spring has arrived & Purple Moon will give you that yoga butt!

Spring Greetings Everyone!
Is it just me or is this year flying by? Here we all are in the month of October already and I'm kinda scratching my head and wondering how it got here so fast! We all have our own lives, routines, schedules, and commitments but I'm thankful everyday that we have Purple Moon as our safe haven where we can come together as a whole and let go of life's restraints for our 90 minutes of refuge and bliss! We all have our challenges, hurdles, trials and tribulations in this life but it's comforting that we can all come together as one in class and just have such a phenomenal time!
In yoga we learn that we are our own best friend and our own worst enemy but it's a conscious choice we have to make on a daily basis and none of us are exempt. It's important to recognize that there are many ways to solve problems because you learn not to restrain yourself with a limited point of view, just as there are many ways to approach a pose based on your skeleton and limitations. Unfortunately suffering in certain periods of life is a natural human condition but the habit of suffering prevents the ability for healthy growth and change. Yoga truly shows you that there are many ways to approach a difficult task and gives you the flexibility of choice. This offers you a fresh path to emotional freedom, which is so empowering, and your emotions are no longer suppressed because you feel free to change and grow in your practice and in your life.
When I practice I imagine my heart as a beautiful fully bloomed red wildflower with countless petals, much like the hairs on our head or the cells in our brain. In the center of this magnificent wildflower lies our own bright light in the form of a luminous crystal. Everyday we are presented a choice to allow our bright light to shine and ooze kindness, genuine goodness, and positive energy or allow it to be clouded and lost in these endless petals of distraction, suffering, discouragement, and negativity. Each time you allow yourself to be weighed down by life's problems your crystal loses some clarity and the petals around it start to become dusty. Each time you make the decision to come to class you're able to allow those brittle petals to fall away and your bright light starts to show through with deep passion. This visibility allows the petals to flourish and deepen in color allowing the crystal to sparkle even more and you regain your internal austerity just as nature intended. Each time you practice everything in your life becomes meaningful, you're able to rid yourself of all unusable, unwanted, destructive parts of the human condition and you find what you were always looking for by seeing yourself shining in divine simplicity, fortitude, and purity just as you truly are.
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, Roseville and Granite Bay Press Tribunes for showing us such an astounding time last week at The Best of the Best Awards Party! The food was fabulous, the wine was delicious, the band was fantastic and the whole night just truly rocked! We are so grateful for our award again this year and deeply appreciate all of your votes Purple Moon Community, WooHoo :)

Happy Long Weekend! I hope everyone had a fun and safe 4th of July!
My sis Angela came Saturday and we spent the day playing with precious baby Kenny; He's only 10 weeks old and he can hold his head up so well and he's just full of coos and giggles! Took tons of pictures of the girls and Brandon holding him, feeding him, and loving him :)

We made it through our very special birthday Tuesday, Purple Moon is absolutely 1 year old and she can put on her big girl pants now, WooHoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Baby Kenneth was finally born; Congratulations to my wonderful sis-in-law Angela!
He was born Monday April 19th late in the afternoon, he's absolutely beautiful, and he weighed 6lbs 13oz. We can't wait to meet him, cuddle him, and cover him in kisses!

Baby Logan James is finally here; Congratulations to my brother David and his beautiful wife Jamie on their healthy bouncing baby boy! He was born very early in the morning on March 27th; He weighed 7lbs 12oz and he is a precious sweet bundle to the entire family!

Well, if you can believe it, my dad has already been visiting for 3 week
s and sadly he is leaving tomorrow. I'm so happy most of you got to meet him and enjoy the wonderful energy he brought to class! He is 66 years old and he kicked up into headstand in his first class and we were all so very proud of him. He has already noticed many changes in his body and is looking for some hot yoga back home in Tennessee. Purple Moon has truly been inspired by his presence and I wanted to thank him publicly from the bottom of my heart. I love you Dad and we will miss you tremendously!

Besides enjoying the gift of yoga together, We've had a lovely visit enjoying movies together, eating outside in this beautiful spring weather, laughing over old times, talking every morning over hot coffee, and creating more treasured memories with family!
Thank you, Dad!

Returned from DC last week and we had a truly magical time! I'm soooooooo proud of my brother for serving 27 years in the military, raising a beautiful family and earning his masters degree all at the same time! The retirement ceremony was beyond awesome; it truly took my breath away! My nephew Joshua sang The National Anthem and it was my nephew Joel's birthday so we had a ton of celebrating to do! Terry, my brother, took everyone out to dinner at Vinny's, which was a fabulous Italian Eatery. We enjoyed great food, lovely company, and birthday song :)

We woke up Saturday morning to tons of snow and we could watch the snow falling outside our window, it was truly amazing but then we weren't able to drive but we didn't let that get us down. We walked in the snow to The National Art Museum, enjoyed a wonderful French Buffet outside the Impressionism Exhibit, spent all day enjoying precious works of art from long ago; so many pieces I recognized and remembered from The Art Docent Program. I almost passed out when I saw Van Gogh's self portrait and the Leonardo Da Vinci, OMG, It was pure divinity!
I have to admit, California girls are kinda snow illiterate, LOL. Luckily I had my beautiful husband to catch me many times when I lost my footing; clearly my LOVE boots were not very helpful!
We found a great little sushi restaurant down the street from the hotel and enjoyed some unfiltered sake, the service was great and the company was out of this world!

Baltimore was beautiful, we had a wonderful time on the waterfront gazing at Chesapeake Bay, walking in more snow :) We found a place to buy candles and fudge after we had lunch at this cool crab shack, Maryland is famous for their crab, everything crab, crab, crab, crab...maybe we will never eat crab again, LOL :)

Meditation For Life Workshop yesterday was truly fabulous, Thank you soooooo much to Carole and Mike! We learned so much about reading our aura and clearing out our mental closet. I have to admit, the studio felt so weird without the heat but we enjoyed each other and all of our new opportunities for a beautiful 2010!

P.S. I'm going to go have a glass of wine and toast all of you; the wonderful community we have built from the ground up, a continued supply of support, and the beauty we create each time we come back to our mats for group yoga at Purple Moon! Thank you :)

We enjoyed a lovely authentic Fire Pot Chinese Dinner last night at Tony and Ping's house; the food was truly amazing! We made new friends with some incredible people and our hosts were truly fabulous as usual; Thank you so much for your warm hospitality and true friendship!

If you are lucky enough to be graced with one of our December Over-The-Mooners in class, please give them a pat on the back or some kind words for a job well done!

Christmas is around the corner and I'm only half done with my shopping; kinda starting to panic people. Anyway, we will be closed Christmas Day and only the 9am class will be open Christmas Eve; everything else will remain the same. So, if you want to get your yoga in I will be doing a special Christmas Eve Hot Passion class December 24th at 9am, WooHoo!

I need some feedback on a Wednesday 6:15 am Hot Power class with our one and only Steve Dobson that I'm starting in January; If we can get a good base of people interested that would be fantastic. Also, Meditation Class with our very own Carole Gan is coming to bring in the New Year sometime on the weekends; E-mail me with times you think would be best, Thanks :)

After the holidays, we all need to start thinking about doing my Body Restoration Cleanse and completing the 30 Day Challenge. Anyway, I guess this is your newsletter this month cuz December is going by way too fast and I truly need to get my butt in gear!

By the way, Thanksgiving Shakti Flow was an amazing experience; Thank you to everyone that came and shared their beautiful positive energy on such a special day! I truly hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving Day sharing and expressing greatfulness to your beloved families and friends! There is true beauty everywhere you look if you soften your heart to the outside world. We are all on this planet together, we are all the same, and we are all equal on the same journey and our own. When we choose to join hands to help and support eachother life becomes both abundant and fruitful. Allow this beauty to be born in your life and you will see your heart open up to many new opportunities!

Sunday was a huge success, every drop of the 2008 wine was bottled and corked and all the 2009 must was pressed and transferred into the oak barrel with pure finesse. Thank you to our  awesome son Brandon for corking all those bottles, thank you so much Tony for helping all day and into the night and thank you to Ping for really getting in there and getting her hands dirty Sunday night!
Thanks also to my parents for being part of the process and sharing the beauty of wine making with my family and friends! Monday we enjoyed each other's charming company, rested all day, spent time with the kids, and reflected on a truly phenomenal weekend!

Thank you so much Tony for showing us such a fantastic time last Friday night at that charming Tuscan Style winery; the food was great, the wine was awesome, and the company
was phenomenal!

When you come to class, remember that yoga is noncompetitive and you move at your own pace, always.
Listen to your body and rest when you need to; life is full of challenges and yoga teaches you the yogic way to react to challenges and carry this gift into your everyday life. It is important not to force your body too deeply into poses too soon and be happy with the modified versions at first, focusing more intently on your alignment and balance. If you have any questions, call anytime!

It's been really hot outside and I'm so proud of all of you for being so dedicated to your practice and deciding to come to class anyway! I encourage those of you that have been with us for a while to think about committing to the 30 DAY CHALLENGE; It will truly change the way you view life, your peers, your job, & essentially the bigger picture. I'm enjoying all the new friend's I've made through this whole process & I truly thank you for your warm hearts and encouraging words!

We have some great people to thank from the bottom of our hearts! First and foremost, we want to thank our brilliant PR and beautiful daughter, Krystal; Thank you, thank you, thank you to our awesome family for their abundant supply of moral support, undying patience and unconditional love.  We are eternally grateful to our friends at Burning Lotus Hot Yoga in Carmichael. They have become our extended family over the last several months and have given us the utmost support during our blooming process. Personal thanks to Danielle, owner of B Lotus, for allowing us to use her space for interviews when our space was still under construction & for her constant encouraging support and good karma. Also, thanks a million to our 12 Tibetan loving friend & teacher Steve, we love you big guy! Harmonious thanks also to Teresa, the most pure hearted yogini you will ever come across, thank you for always making us feel like family; Stuart, a truly amazing Bhakti teacher overflowing with wonderful knowledge, & the warmest couple you will ever meet, John and Beth, your passion for yoga is truly transcending! Check out Burning Lotus Yoga, their beautiful studio, & their warm energetic teacher presence! They are located on the corner of San Jaun & Fair Oaks in San Jaun Center at 9045 Fair Oaks Blvd. Suite E, we love all of you so much, MWAH! Purple Moon would also not be possible without Moose and his buddy Cory who built our walls, electrical and also installed our gorgeous floors inside the studio.
Moose was always there to help me talk to the inspectors and Cory has such a big heart! Thanks to Joseph, our architect for doing all the drawings and helping us tremendously in acquiring our permits! We still need to have that glass of French wine Joseph, so don't think I forgot. We need to thank Jason for installing the floors in our lobby, change rooms, break room, bathrooms, and laundry room. They turned out beyond beautiful and that's not saying enough! Thanks to Steve for all his hard work on our heating system, eventually we'll get you to come to class! Last but not least, thanks to Javier for the demo & Raul for painting the ceilings. I want to dedicate a special thanks and single out one person, besides my husband, that I hold the deepest gratitude for in my journey, and that is my teacher and dear friend, Ping! Since we met, you have been my inspiration and my refuge through trying times & I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Without your support, Purple Moon would not be possible and I am truly honored to know you!!!
